'Think Before You Pink' Before Shopping For A Cure
(CBS4)
Every October, the ghosts and goblins come out for Halloween. But every October, the colors also turn pink. Stores are plastered in pink products for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
But before you shop for a cure, there's a Web site that wants to make sure you're not being misled about how much good your pink purchases are doing.
The Web site
www.thinkbeforeyoupink.org can find out which charities are benefiting and how much they're getting from some pink-labeled products.
Thinkbeforeyoupink.org is a source of information providing consumers with facts to consider before purchasing pink products. The Web site is a project of Breast Cancer Action, a member organization that stresses the importance of consumer action and specifies important questions to ask-such as how much of your money is being donated, to which organizations and to what extent these corporations practice what they preach.
The Web site also exposes companies that, despite their colorfully advertised donations, do not display a larger devotion to the prevention of breast cancer through their practices.
