Gas Prices Drop, Disney Prices Rise

Park Prices To Increase Sunday

Universal Orlando Had Not Announced Similar Increase

ORLANDO (CBS4) ― Just as falling gas prices have started to make some parents think they might squeeze in a quick end-of-summer trip to Disney World the people at the "happiest place on earth" delivered some less then happy news; prices are on the way up if you want to see the mouse.

If you buy tickets to Walt Disney World after Saturday, be prepared to pay $75 per adult just to get in the door, parking extra. Kids will cost a bit less, $63 if you're 9 or under.

That's an increase of $4 per adult and $3 per child.

Similar price increases were announced for Disneyland in Anaheim, California.

There are some bargains to be had for people who stay at Disney resorts or who book longer stays, and Florida residents often qualify for a special rate. However, the popular Park-Hopper option that allows ticket holders to move between Disney parks will go up $5, to $50.

The price increase applies in varying degrees for longer stays,
while the park hopper option, an add-on that allows ticket-holders
to move among any of Disney's parks, will cost $50, up from $45.

That makes the Disney parks more expensive than their Orlando competitor, Universal Orlando. Single day tickets remain $71 for adults, $60 per child, though it's not unusual for one park to match price increases made by another.

Universal Orlando has made no announcement of price changes.
