Panthers Knock Off Stars In Preseason Hockey
SUNRISE, Fla. (CBS4) ―
The thermometer outside may still be registering around 90 degrees, but believe it or not, hockey season is here. The Florida Panthers are getting into regular season form by knocking off the Florida Panthers 4-1 in a preseason slugfest on Wednesday night.
The Panthers were paced by David Booth who scored his fourth goal in four games and had an assist for the Panthers who are currently 4-3 in the preseason. Florida goalie Tomas Vokoun stopped 21 shots. Dallas' Marty Turco made 25 saves.
It was Florida's only home preseason game. The Panthers travel to Finland for their last two preseason games Monday and Wednesday before opening the regular season against Chicago Oct. 2-3 at Helsinki. This was the second victory in two nights for the Panthers over the Stars, following a 3-1 victory at Dallas on Tuesday.
It was the second of three games in three nights for Dallas. The Stars face Colorado at home on Thursday.
Dvorak, who missed Florida's first six preseason games because of family matters in the Czech Republic, scored a short-handed goal to give Florida a 3-1 lead at 9:38 of the third period. He skated in on a 2-on-1 and beat Turco with a deke to the backhand.
