MIAMI (CBS4) ―
Tomas Vokoun gave up four goals, three on power plays, as the Florida Panthers dropped their second game of the season to the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-0.

The loss came a night after the Panthers beat Chicago in a shootout.

Florida had chances to score, but failed to convert all three of their power play opportunities. Chicago started Antti Niemi in goal in place of Cristobal Huet and the Finland native put on a show in front of 12,000 people in his home town.

"It was a good opportunity to play him in front of his own countrymen," Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said of Niemi, who had 23 saves. "He got a good challenge and we loved the response.

"You can give him a lot of credit to stand up during two barrages early in the second period and with a couple of cutthroat situations when he makes spectacular saves in the third."

Brian Campbell, Patrick Sharp, Patrick kane and Dustin Byfuglien scored against Vokoun, who is known to have early season struggles.

Campbell opened the scoring 3:05 into the game after Florida's Ville Koistenen was off the ice for interference. Kane, who also had an assist, and Sharp scored in the second period. Byfuglien put the game out of reach in the third after the Panthers' Dmitry Kulikov was off the ice for two minutes for holding.

Florida coach Peter DeBoer wasn't happy with the split.

"A month ago I would have taken it, but after winning the last game you get greedy and want the four points," he said. "We're a skating, forechecking team and need legs. Part of it was that we didn't have the legs and part that Chicago played a great game and made us look bad."
