Horse Rescued From Ditch At Redland Farm

Earlier in the day another horse had to be rescued from the same ditch

REDLAND (CBS4) ― Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews used a front-end loader and harnesses to help rescue a horse stuck in a ditch on a Redland ranch in southwest Miami-Dade on Friday.

The scene was filled with members of the Technical Rescue Unit, the Miami-Dade County veterinarian, and the county venom unit, which is trained in large animal rescue.

Crews were sent to SW 168th St & SW 199th Ave. shortly before noon, where they secured the horse by strapping harnesses around the torso of the horse. The owner of Acostas Nursery, located adjacent to the scene, volunteered the use of his front-end loader.

Custody of the horse was transferred to the American Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), a non-for-profit organization that cares for abused and abandoned animals.
