Barreiro Denies Porn Accusation On State Laptop
Former US Representative Gus Barreiro Fired In January From Department Of Juvenile Justice
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
An inspection of the state-issued laptop computer of fired Department of Juvenile Justice executive Gus Barreiro found hundreds of adult pornographic images, according to an agency inspector general report released on Wednesday.
CBS4 I-Team Investigator Jim Defede said he spoke to the former state lawmaker who said he denies any wrongdoing, and "was set up by the Department of Juvenile Justice".
Defede reports that as chief of residential services for the agency until he was abruptly fired last month, Barreiro caused controversy, advocating for a group of men who were abused in the 1950s and 1960s, the so- called "White House boys", at Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys.
Barreiro explained to Defede that after supporting this case people within the Department of Juvenile Justice told him they will find a way to embarrass him and run him out of the department.
The 49-year-old Barreiro said he will fight the department he was once head of in March 2008 to clear his name.
Barreiro also claimed that he had allowed other people use of his laptop computer in question.
