Developer's Marlins Proposal Is Struck Down Again

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A South Florida Developer is once again offering to build the Florida Marlins baseball stadium using private money, but the idea is not being considered.

Glenn Straub owns the land the Miami Arena once sat on. He's offering to build the stadium and lease it to the Marlins. In exchange he wants the rights to the Orange Bowl site for a soccer complex and equestrian center.

Straub's proposal was shot down more than a year ago, and once more this week. The city, county and the Marlins confirmed they are still not interested.

"They know that they think they have the funding," said Eff Zink, senior associate for Glenn Straub. "They think they've made a good deal, and they would like to see it proceed and go forward. There is a lot of people who do not think it should go forward, and we just happen to be one of them."

The City of Miami is planning to vote on the Marlins stadium using taxpayer dollars on March 19th
