Florida Politician Sues To Seat Florida Delegates

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) ― State Senate Democratic Leader Steve Geller (D-Cooper City) is suing his national party over the decision to strip Florida of its presidential delegates.

The lawsuit filed Thursday argues that the Democratic National Committee didn't treat Florida fairly when it punished the state for holding a primary before Feb. 5. It also maintains that the Republican-led Legislature set the early date, and the state's Democrats shouldn't be blamed.

Others, including U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, Rep. Alcee Hastings and Rep. Corrine Brown, have also sued the DNC to try to get Florida's delegates seated, but so far courts have ruled that the national party can decide how it nominates its candidates.
