Eating Out Cheap Isn't Hard
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
The shaky economy has a lot of people thinking they have to cut back on eating out to balance their budget. But that's not necessarily true. Some local restaurants are going out of their way to get your business.
Vernal Emano says she's found that customers are more cost conscious when the come out to eatcounting how many dollars they spend on a meal. Restaurants are counting those dollars too, and doing whatever they can to get them. Dining deals are abundanttwo for one here, something for free there, and even coupons.
Deli Den in Hollywood has been around for 37 years, and coupons are a big part of their business. Bernie Feldman uses one every time he comes in.
"With prices rising, 20 percent off is quite a help," said Feldman.
"It's an incentive for them, for you to come and eat in their restaurant and they're offering you a coupon, so what better way to save money and eat out," said diner Elizabeth Cook.
And you can save even more getting online deals. At Deli Den, for example, for $3 you get a $10 gift card. That equates to 7 bucks for free. You can find the promotions in all kinds of restaurants.
Even national chains like TGI Friday's are serving up deals. They have specials on the menu, and if you sign up for their frequent dining program, you can get discount coupons and free food.
"Whenever you spend a hundred dollars, we'll automatically e-mail you a certificate for 8 dollars off your next visit."
