A group of South Florida middle school students got some hands on experience Friday when they helped marine biologists from the Miami Seaquarium release a rehabilitated green sea turtle back into the wild. The endangered turtle, named Axel, was the victim of a boat strike and washed ashore almost a year ago on the shore at Crandon Park Beach with a severe wound to the head. Axel was only an infant when he washed ashore in critical condition. After plenty of TLC, nursing care and time, Axel was fully rehabilitated and ready to return to the ocean.
