Hundreds of police officers from across South Florida with black
stripes over their badges attended the funeral of Hollywood police
officer Alex Del Rio.
A 9-year veteran of the Hollywood Police
Department, Del Rio, 31, was chasing a speeding car on Sheridan Street
Saturday evening when he lost control as he tried to avoid hitting a
taxi. Del Rio's cruiser crashed into a palm tree and burst into flames,
the officer trapped inside.
