Protests against Chinese rule started peacefully in Tibet's capital, Lhasa, during the week of March 10, 2008, and oftentimes erupted into riots, drawing a harsh response from Chinese authorities. Dozens of deaths have been reported, and protesters from all around the globe have been showing their support for a free Tibet.
