Possible Tornado Strikes Hialeah

Widespread reports of damage poured in to police after severe thunderstorms hit Miami-Dade and Broward counties Thursday afternoon. Hialeah police reported the tornado on the ground around 2:40p.m. Thursday.

The storm system knocked out power to 5000 FPL customers in Central and Northern Miami-Dade county.

The National Weather Service in Miami had put the area was under a tornado warning at the time of the touchdown.

A funnel cloud was snapped hovering over Hialeah as a line of severe thunderstorms moved through the area.
