Dolphins, Patriots Players Fined $15,000 For Fight

Miami's Channing Crowder, New England's Matt Light Fought In 4th Quarter Of Game

The Miami Dolphins will have Channing Crowder on the field for their next game after the NFL chose to fine Crowder $15,000  for his part in a fight with New England Patriots offensive lineman Matt Light during last weekend's game, reports CBS station WFOR-TV in Miami.

Light was also fined $15,000 for the incident, reports CBS station WBZ-TV in Boston.

The entire incident started after a field goal. Crowder's helmet came off when Light blocked him during the field goal attempt. Both players pushed each other in the face before Light grabbed Crowder's dreadlocks in his right hand and hit him three times on the head with his right. Crowder eventually broke free and ran away sporting a huge grin.

Both players received personal foul penalties, and both players were immediately ejected from the game.

"That matter is kind of a closed deal now," Light said. "Obviously, I'm not happy with what my actions were, and I don't think that was the way to go. But, in my mind, it's a closed deal now."

For Crowder the fine amounts to less than 1.5 percent of his total salary for 2008, or just slightly more than his pay for fifteen minutes of work on game day.
