Fans: Dolphins' Sale May Be Positive For The Team
The Dolphins Have Been 0-13 This Season
Asking Price For The Team Is $1.1 Billion
Reports: Huizenga Is Talking To Real Estate Developers For The Deal
DAVIE (CBS4) ―
Fans we spoke to at the Quarterdeck Restaurant in Davie often agreed on one thingthat Wayne Huizenga might not have been the Dolphins' best owner, and the possibility of the team being sold can only be a good thing.
Ironically the Miami Dolphins organization was enjoying its Christmas party Friday night when the news broke out. When they saw CBS4 camera's outside their Davie complex they asked
CBS4's David Sutta what was going on. The staffers appeared to have as many questions as the fans eating at the Quarterdeck Restaurant down the street.
"Actually I think it's a good thing," said Craig Isbell. "I don't think Wayne is out for the sports anymore; no, he's out for the money."
Huizenga at one point was the owner of South Florida sports, but he sold a dismantled Marlins championship team and the Florida Panthers.
"Maybe he got into a business that he didn't know that much about," said Jerry Dilella. "Maybe he went a little over his head and had a problem picking the right people. Maybe time for a change is good."
Many agreed that Huizenga had the wrong people in place running the team, and could have been more hands on.
The asking price for the team is $1.1 billion, a far cry from the $138 million he paid for the team in 1994.
