BCS College Football Championship trophy

Despite a disappointing season for the University of Miami, the Hurricanes are one of the teams still in the running for a Bowl Championship Series at-large bid. The BCS games include the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Orange Bowl, and the BCS National Championship game.
BCS officials said a total of 20 teams are still in the running for spots in the bowl games including LSU and USC. Ten of those teams, including number 1 Florida, number 2 Alabama, and number 3 Texas, are in a position to earn an automatic bid as a conference champion or an at-large pick.
The scenarios are endless, for example: the winner of the SEC Championship game between Alabama and Florida will determine one team in the BCS title game. Assuming Texas wins the Big XII championship, Texas would face the SEC champion in the BCS title game. The SEC runner-up would likely get an at-large bid to the Sugar Bowl. The Pac-10 champion will square off against Ohio State, the Big 10 champion in the Rose Bowl.
The ACC Champion will get a bid in the Orange Bowl to likely play against the Big East winner. That would leave the Fiesta Bowl to choose from among the teams that would be left. If Boise State and TCU both get through their schedules undefeated, both can potentially win at-large bids and would likely then be sent separately to the Orange and Fiesta Bowls. Boise State would likely be sent to the Fiesta Bowl, though TCU could probably bring more fans based upon their location, to play either the ACC champion or the Big East champion. TCU would then face off against the other champion.
Of course, that's just one scenario, if Nebraska upset Texas in the Big XII championship then the whole scenario gets thrown out of focus.
