Parcells, Cameron Face To Face At Fins Camp
Focus Still On The Regular Season Finale
DAVIE (MIAMI HERALD) ―
The meeting didn't last long -- no more than a few friendly words on the team's practice field -- but Dolphins coach Cam Cameron finally spoke with new vice president of football operations Bill Parcells on Thursday.
Don't expect any major decisions to develop as a result.
''Well, we were on the practice field,'' Cameron said. ``I went over and said hello. He said hello. The one thing he said was, `I know we have to get ready for Cincinnati, so just keep doing what you're doing, and there will be time to talk.'
``He knows what we're trying to do. That's where we are.''
Cameron, who had yet to even acknowledge before Thursday whether he had previously met Parcells, said during his news conference that this was not the first time the pair had spoken in their careers.
And it surely won't be the last.
The pair are expected to have a sit-down discussion, which will help Parcells decide whether to retain the coach for next year. Cameron did not know when that would be.
''I'm sure there will be a point in time when we'll discuss that,'' Cameron said. ``I don't have that answer for you.''
It still also remains unknown when Parcells will address the media. It is possible a news conference might not take place until after 5 p.m. Thursday.
In the meantime, Cameron said he would simply continue to focus on Sunday's game against the Bengals.
''When you're on the practice field, you're dialed into what needs to be done today,'' Cameron said. ``You guys can imagine. If my focus is anywhere other than where it needs to be, imagine what everyone else is thinking. There's time for all those other things.''
