Proving once again that the Dolphins expect production from the players they bring in, linebacker/defensive end Matt Roth was released by the Dolphins on Tuesday. Roth was one of the few holdovers left from the previous regimes that piloted the Dolphins franchise.
Roth had missed multiple games during the season due to an injury. He had just come back into the lineup last week against the Panthers, but the rapidly improving game of outside linebacker Cameron Wake likely made Roth dispensable.
In his place, the Dolphins signed defensive end Ikeaika Alma-Francis. Alma-Francis was a second round draft choice by the Detroit Lions in 2007. The 6'5", 290lbs defensive end was a walk-on to the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors before joining the football team. Alma-Francis recorded 35 tackles and one sack during his time with the Lions.
