Dolphins Going Long?

MIAMI (CBS4) ― The Miami Dolphins may use their number one overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft on Virginia DE Chris Long, according to Adam Schefter of the NFL Network. Chris is the son of former Oakland Raiders player Howie Long.

According to Schefter, three well-connected NFL sources each said that there is "mounting evidence to think Long will be the number one overall pick in April's draft."

Up until this point, the names most experts were predicting the Dolphins would focus on one of the following players: LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan, and Arkansas running back Darren McFadden.

The growing consensus in the NFL is that Dolphins football operations chief Bill Parcells views Long as the player who has the least amount of risk. The projected signing bonus for the number one pick is expected to top $30 million.
