Dolphins Re-Sign Ricky Williams for 2009

Five Players Signed To Practice Squad

DAVIE, FL (CBS4) ―

The Miami Dolphins re-signed running back Ricky Williams to a one-year contract extension on Sunday .

"We extended him for one more year.  We didn't want him to be a free agent so we did extend him, yes", said general manager Jeff Ireland who went on to say that Williams has shown the organization he can play.

Also on Sunday, the Miami Dolphins made several roster moves as they prepare for the regular season opener against the New York Jets.

The team waived former Arena League wide receiver Anthony Armstrong, offensive lineman Trey Darilek, and linebacker Rob Ninkovich.  Taking the place of those three are center Andy Alleman (from New Orleans), tackle Nate Garner (from Jets) and wide receiver Brandon London (from Giants).

Five players were also signed to the practice squad all of whom were with the team during training camp before being released a day earlier cornerback Will Billingsley, wide receiver Jayson Foster, offensive tackle Daren Heerspink, running back Lex Hilliard and tight end Matthew Mulligan.  All five were with the Dolphins in training camp this year before being waived on Saturday.
