Dolphins Shut Out Chiefs 24-0
Ginn Returns Punt For Touchdown
MIAMI GARDENS, FL (CBS4) ―
Ted Ginn Jr. returned a second-quarter punt 59 yards for a touchdown and the Miami Dolphins defense went on to shut out the Kansas City Chiefs 24-0 in a preseason game at Dolphin Stadium Saturday night.
Ginn continues to impress in the preseason and so has quarterback Chad Pennington who has been with the Dolphins less than two weeks but has looked more like a guy who has been several years with the team. Pennington played the first half and connected on 11-15 passes for 94 yards including a 17 yard touchdown connection with tight end Anthony Fasano.
The Dolphins defense was all over Kansas City's three quarterbacks sacking them five times and forcing three interceptions. Chiefs running back Larry Johnson was stuffed on 4th and goal on the opening drive of the 4th quarter. Michael Lehan, who returned to practice earlier in the week, picked off a Damon Huard pass in the third-quarter.
Rookie quarterback Chad Henne, who is currently second on the depth chart, didn't look as sharp as he had in the first two preseason games. Henne was intercepted in the end zone inside Kansas City's one-yard line and finished the night 2-7 for 14 yards.
Meanwhile, rookie running back Jalen Parmalee rushed for 88 yards and a touchdown that included an 80 yard run.
