No New Taxes In Dade To Fix Budget Gaps


Miami-Dade commissioners cast a final vote just before 4:30 am Friday, deciding not to raise the tax rate and impose further cuts on the county budget.

The Miami-Dade Commission refused early Friday morning to  increase the county millage rate for 2009-2010, preventing an overall increase in the county tax rate but forcing millions of additional cuts in the Mayor's proposed budget, virtually assuring pay cuts for employees, even deeper cuts in county programs, and the elimination of tens of millions of dollars for community based organizations.
