Braves Beat Marlins At Bottom Of The 8th
ATLANTA (AP) ―
Andruw Jones and Adam LaRoche hit solo homers in the bottom of the eighth to lift Atlanta past the Florida Marlins 6-to-5.
Jones led off the eighth with the tying homer, a half-inning after Dan Uggla's solo shot put the Marlins ahead 5-to-4. Jones entered the night tied for the N-L lead with 88 R-B-I's.
LaRoche followed with his 20th homer with two outs in the eighth before Bob Wickman worked a scoreless ninth for his second National League save.
Brian McCann also homered as the Braves won for the tenth time in their last 13 games.
John Smoltz improved to 8-and-5 despite blowing a 3-to-0 lead in the sixth. He gave up five runs in eight innings.
Taylor Tankersley served up LaRoche's homer and fell to 1-and-1.
