Memorial Shrine At Site Where BSO Officer Slain
sr
POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ―
Flowers, letters, stuffed animals, a Bible all being brought to a Walgreens parking lot in Pompano Beach Saturday, where a BSO sergeant was slain in an ambush.
One woman who came to visit the site said "I'm just hurt for his family - his wife and his children. It's just a senseless crime."
51-year-old sergeant Chris Reyka, father of four, 18-year law enforcement veteran, was declared dead soon after transported to the hospital early Friday morning.
The killing has led to a massive manhunt for suspects driving a white car that had tinted windows, and a stolen Florida tag F16 8UJ, which Reyka entered into his computer before being shot, said a sheriff's spokesman.
We'll get you, we'll find you," Jenne vowed at a news conference yesterday. "BSO is not going to tolerate thugs in this community who think or feel they can assassinate our people."
He said his agency was declaring "war" on anyone involved in Reyka's slaying, and offered a $105,000 reward.
