Arrest In Boston May Be Connected To Pata Murder

Jerome Brody under arrest in Boston

He's a 'person of interest' in unrelated murder in Boston

He's also the twin brother of Pata's girlfriend
MIAMI (CBS4) ― Police in Boston have made an arrest that may be connected to the murder of University of Miami football player Bryan Pata, according to the Boston Globe.

The newspaper reported this week that Jerome Brody, 19, was arrested in Boston in connection with the shooting death of a Boston gang leader. He's being called a "person of interest" in that case and was found with two handguns and crack cocaine, according to police in Boston.

Police here say Brody, is the twin brother of Pata's girlfriend Jada. According to The Boston Globe, which cites an unidentified law enforcement official, Miami authorities want to speak with Brody about Pata's murder because he believed his sister was being mistreated by Pata.

Miami-Dade police investigators have not revealed whether anyone from the department was being sent to Boston to question Brody.

Bryan Pata, 22, was shot in the back of the head and killed outside his Kendall apartment on November 7th. His body was discovered by his girlfriend.

Jada Brody said in a telephone interview with The Boston Globe that she believes it impossible that Jerome would harm Pata. ''That's ridiculous,'' she said. "Jerome had nothing to do with that.''

She said her brother rarely is in Miami and as far as she knows hasn't visited since May.

Anyone with information on Pata's death can call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
