MIAMI (CBS4) ― Eating out in South Florida doesn't have to make you light in the wallet. CBS4'S Lisa Petrillo decided to put her taste buds to the test in order to find some of South Florida's best restaurants under ten dollars.

In her first "Cheap Eats" report, Lisa highlights ten restaurants under ten dollars.

Beginning her search in Miami-Dade County, there's the "Little Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant", located at 16752 N Miami Avenue in North Miami Beach. The storefront may be simple but there's nothing simple or plain about the food. There are more than 171 items on the menu. The owner, "Lily", cooks and serves up some of the finest tasting Vietnamese dishes, says Petrillo, and the customers are very loyal.

"It's all homemade, every recipe is from my mom. They feel like they are home home," says "Lily".

Some menu items include seafood soup, Vietnamese pancakes with fresh fish, spring rolls, grilled pork and pan fried noodles and it's all under $10.00

If you're in Broward County and in the mood for Mexican, there's "Zona Fresca", located at 1635 North Federal Highway in Fort Lauderdale, which should make you feel like your south of the border. Its casual counter service provides fresh and delicious Mexican staples, like burritos, shrimp tacos, salads and more.

Smack in the heart of Little Havana in Miami is local favorite "Enriqueta's Cafeteria", located at 2830 NE 2nd Avenue. Customers love the Cuban sandwiches, cafecitos and rice and beans, just like "abuela" used to make. Customers call it their home away from home.

Back in Broward, Italian lovers love "John the Baker", who has been baking up his mouth watering pizza pies and Italian food for decades. Now with two restaurants, one in Cooper City and the other in Pembroke Pines, owner John Scinicariello, serves up to 900 pizzas during their Tuesday night $6.99 pizza pie special.
John the Baker in Pembroke Pines is located at 12592 Pines Blvd. and 8835 Sterling Road in Cooper City.

The "S and S Diner", located at 1757 NE 2nd Avenue, is a Miami institution. With its U-shaped counter and delicious diner fare. "S and S" serves up fresh and affordable food at yesterday's prices. It's old-fashioned comfort food that can satisfy any appetite.

The Italian subs have been flying out of "La Spada's Original Hoagies", located at 4346 Sea Grape Drive in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea since 1973. This family run business is all about fresh ingredients, freshly baked breads and portions fit for a king. The house special, a classic Italian sub, with meat piled so high it could easily feed two people, is priced at $7.99.

Simply said, you get good eats at "Good Eats Deli" in downtown Miami. It's located at 45 NE 79th Street. The small but friendly sandwich shop has the ultimate gourmet grilled cheese sandwich called 'The Godfather'. It has a full ball of buffalo mozzarella, beefsteak tomatoes, a balsamic reduction with fresh basil for under $10.00.

Since 1972, "Jack's Old-Fashioned Hamburgers", located at 4201 N Federal Hwy, in Fort Lauderdale has been flipping burgers to the delights of its customers. With their moist and tasty hand pressed burgers, fresh toppings, and quick counter service, the secret just might be the brisket meat, freshly ground on the premises. Average burger cost is under $5.00.

When it comes to quick and tasty hotdogs, nothing compares to "Dogma Grill". There are several locations stretching from Miami Beach to Fort Lauderdale but the original, off of Biscayne Boulevard, still packs them in and the customers 'relish' it.

Picnic style tables and good old fashioned favorites at "Tom Jenkins B-B-Q", located at 1236 S. Federal Hwy in Fort Lauderdale, makes it an old time favorite. Chicken, ribs, collard greens and classic cornbread puts some real south in your mouth. A full meal is under $10.00.
