2007 Governor's Hurricane Conference

FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
Governor Crist on Wednesday addressed the 21st annual, five-day Florida Governor's Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale which began Monday, and ends on May 18th.
Those attending listened to experts in the field of meteorology, hurricanes, public and private, as well as corporations and government agencies. There are training sessions, working groups, and meetings as well as receptions.
CBS4's Bryan Norcross also unveiled to CBS4 News a new network that will provide hurricane emergency information throughout the country.
There's been plenty to study from: there have been eight fierce storms in 2004 and 2005. Hurricane season officially runs from June 1st to November 30th.
Speakers on Wednesday included FEMA director David Paulison, as well as: Dr. William Gray and Phil Klotsbach of Colorado State University; Bill Proenza, director, National Hurricane Center; Sam Miller, Florida Insurance Council; Ruben Almaguer, deputy director, Florida Division of Emergency Management; Ben Nelson, state meteorologist, Florida Division of Emergency Management; Jack Bevin, senior hurricane specialist, National Hurricane Center, Chris Landsea, science and operations officer, NOAA.
