Water Managers: Floridians May Go Short On Water

FAST FACTS: Phase II Water Restrictions

dl
MIAMI (CBS4) ― Get ready South Florida because we are still looking at major water shortages through next year, and this will impact everybody.

Lake Okeechobee water levels are lower than previous years, despite near averages rainfall for June and July, August was the driest since 1987.

As a result water managers with the South Florida Water Management District warn that South Florida residents may experience back-to-back water shortages for the first time since the early 1980's.

Lake Okeechobee is the main backup water supply to all five millions of people living in South Florida. This shortage could mean stiffer water restrictions.
