What might be called a "speedy solution" to long walks between terminals came out of an employee suggestion box at Miami International Airport.
Some might not know about it, but Miami International Airport now has a trolley that takes you between terminals, and all you have to do is hop on to use it. The terminal trolley started up a few months ago. It's driver goes around the airport looking those who might need a lift.
So far the elderly, pregnant mothers and injured servicemen have all been spotted using the service. The service is free and runs all day long and is available to anyone.
"They get on and it's happy faces from then on," said Luis Arce.
Arce was the brainchild of the project. The veteran employee started at the airport 24 years ago in customer service and is now a supervisor. When employees were asked for ideas to make things better at the airport for passengers, Arce thought a trolley to help people manage the long walk would be ideal.
Some months ago, the airport started testing the trolley service and has so far been getting rave reviews.
Because the Airport has no budget for the trolley, they are renting the cart for about $300 a month from a local vendor. The airport hopes to find a Miami company who would want to sponsor the trolley by placing advertising on it. If your company is interested, call Patricia Ryan at (305) 876-8131.
