The driver was full throttle ahead, perhaps driving a whopping 10 miles-per-hour on the Florida Turnpike Thursday afternoon, after police say he stole the vehicle and tried getting away during rush hour.
We're not making this up.
Florida Highway Patrol got reports that a man was driving a stolen golf cart on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike by the Golden Glades intersection in North Miami-Dade. The ordeal started when a security guard at the Rooms to Go Furniture store along the Palmetto Expressway reported a man had stolen the golf cart used to patrol the store.
Even though two cars tried to block off the suspect and the golf cart as it got away, he managed to zig zag his way around the cars and get on the expressway.
The suspect managed to drive along the side of the busy expressway coming to a stop on the northbound lanes of the Turnpike, just before the Golden Glades toll plaza, where troopers managed to stop and arrest him.
Several lanes of traffic were shut for more than two hours as officials investigated and cleared the scene.
The suspect was charged with grand theft.
