Luther Campbell Targeted In Hate Crime

by Marybel Rodriguez
MIAMI LAKES (CBS4 News) ― Luther Campbell, the rapper who made headlines in the 90's for his court battles on sexually explicit adult lyrics in his acts and records became the victim of a hate crime at his Miami Lakes home on Monday.

Someone got as far as the driveway of Skywalker's home in an upscale Miami Lakes neighborhood and threw a concrete landscaping block at the windshield of his rental car. The windshield shattered and a note was left behind by a note. The note had biblical scriptures on it and someone handwrote the words "you better sign or die". The person who left the note also handwrote some racial slurs.

Campbell, who became notorious for albums such as "As Nasty As They Want To Be" with his rap group 2 Live Crew, says he has never been the victim of such a crime, not even when he lived in Liberty City.

"Whoever did it, I guess, is some kind of sick character," said Campbell. "And I hope they don't go too far."

Miami-Dade Police are investigating the incident and don't have any suspects at the time.

If you have any information that might help police please call Miami-Dade Crimestoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
