House Of Lies: Residents Attend Commission Meeting

DOWNTOWN MIAMI (CBS4 News) ― Community activists upset with the squandering of millions of dollars meant to go to their affordable housing rallied at county hall Thursday demanding immediate help for their housing crisis.

About 150 residents rallied outside and later met inside the county commission chambers in Downtown Miami to demand solutions to the low-income housing crisis. Many of these residents have been displaced from their apartments and homes by the county with promises of new, better projects to put them in.

Instead, they have been in limbo as they await for projects that have not even been started. Earlier this year the "House of Lies" investigation revealed that the county had squandered money allocated for the projects in bad and fraudulent contractor deals that benefited the contractors.

Commissioners heard the needs of concerned residents during the budget and housing meeting Thursday evening, but nothing was voted on.
