Officer Who Survived Shootout Leaves Hospital

Suspects In Officer's Murder Learn Trial Date

The Manhunt Ends, And Funeral Plans Begin

MIAMI (CBS4) ― One of the officers who survived the fatal shooting of a colleague last month has been released from the hospital after she suffered a serious gunshot wound to her leg.

Jody Wright was released from Jackson Memorial Hospital on Wednesday. She is among the four other officers who were shot at by a suspect in Southwest Miami-Dade. Officer Jose Somohano died from his injuries.

Details are scarce at this point, but officials have confirmed that Wright is at home recuperating from her injuries.

According to an interview with her father when she was first hospitalized last month, Wright had no intentions of stopping what she loves to do most because of the incident.

A date for her to return on-duty has not been announced.
