MIAMI (CBS4) ―
A popular Miami attraction is helping kids learn more about popular creatures in South Florida.
The Miami MetroZoo and the Zoological Society of Florida received $100,000 from Bank of America Charitable Foundation to help kids learn about exotic birds.
The funding will be used to support the Caribbean Flamingo Exhibit and the spring/summer Zoofari camps to unveil a new educational sign.
The Bank of America Zoofari camp kids received a special presentation Friday morning, from a flamingo keeper to learn more about these special birds, which are one of Florida's most endearing symbols.
Campers also had an opportunity to get up close and personal with the flamingos by feeding their new pink friends with the help of the flamingo keeper.
The exhibit and the eight-foot tall, Art Deco inspired sign is one of the first things visitors see when entering the zoo. The sign was designed by Miami MetroZoo's Design Department and features interesting information about Caribbean flamingos, on a variety of cut-outs, levels and shapes.
The Miami MetroZoo is located at 12400 SW 152 Street in Miami.
