Broward Considering Year Round Water Restrictions

jm
BROWARD COUNTY (CBS4) ― Broward County residents may face year round water restrictions in the future.

County commissioners have asked their legal advisors to draft a law that would limit the watering of lawns to four hours a day, three days a week even when no restrictions have been imposed by the South Florida Water Management District.

Commissioner Kristin Jacobs, who proposed the permanent restrictions, says there needs to be a culture of conservation.

According to Jacobs' plan, homes with odd numbered addresses would only be allowed to water their lawns or wash their vehicles between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Homes with even numbered addresses would only be allowed outdoor water use on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Hallandale Beach has already imposed permanent restrictions, and Davie has tentatively agreed to do so.
