The Miami Dolphins have parted ways with their best receiver over the last seven seasons.
San Diego has acquired the receiver from the Dolphins for a 2008 second-round draft choice, FOXSports.com learned earlier today. Chambers confirmed the trade in an email to FOXSports, but declined further comment until speaking with Dolphins coach Cam Cameron and general manager Randy Mueller.
Chambers has 31 catches for 415 yards with no touchdowns this season. He holds the Dolphins single game receiveing yards record with 238 in 2005.
"We want to thank Chris for his contributions during his tenure with the Dolphins," said General Manager Randy Mueller. "This trade will give some of our younger players at that position, such as Ted Ginn and Derek Hagan, more of an opportunity this year. Chris did everything we asked of him and represented this organization in a first-class manner. We wish him and his family the best of luck in San Diego."
The Dolphins will replace Chabers with players like Derek Hagan and 2007 number one pick Ted Ginn, who has seen his playing time increase.
