Wade Goes Under Knife To Repair Shoulder & Knee

Riley: Wade May Not Be Ready For Season Opener

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) ― After a season full of nagging injuries that limited the performance of Dwyane Wade, the Heat's All Star guard will undergo surgery Tuesday on his left knee and left shoulder.

The Miami Heat confirmed the surgery on Monday and Wade will be operated on by team physician Harlan Selesnick.

The knee surgery is for tendonitis that hampered Wade's performance late in the season and in the playoffs.

The shoulder surgery is for the dislocation and torn labrum Wade suffered on February 21st against Houston, which prevented Wade from being able to effectively extend his left arm during the playoffs.

No timetable has been announced on how long it will take to recover from the surgeries, but Heat head coach Pat Riley told the media last week that there was a chance Wade may not be ready for the season opener in November.

The injuries forced Wade to miss a career high 31 games this season, including a stretch of 23 straight games due to the shoulder injury.

The surgery will also prevent Wade from participating in this summer's Team USA Olympic qualifying tournament in Las Vegas.
