Holy Reptile, An Iguana Hunter

 Slideshow: The Iguana Hunter

sr
KEY BISCAYNE (CBS4) ― Steve Irwin was known as the Crocodile Hunter, now South Florida has an iguana hunter whose been busy trying to capture the rapidly reproducing reptiles.

The lizards, according to George Ward lurk en masse in Crandon Park on Key Biscayne.

Ward is a collector of sorts, one might consider him a herpetologist, pulling down reptiles from trees and from people's property.

"I'll show you trees that have scars on them from the lizards going up and down," he said walking along a path in the park which on either side are disguised iguanas, hidden by their protective coloring.

And people call on Ward to catch them, concerned over the damage done to their property. "You could imagine these on people's cars, laying on the pool deck."

Over the last four years, Ward said he has nabbed over 4,000 reptiles. And he sells them to reptile collectors, zoos or people who want them as pets.
