Flags To Be Lowered In Honor Of President Ford

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) ― Flags across the State of Florida will be flying at half staff in honor for former President Gerald Ford, who died at his home Tuesday following a brief illness.

The order was issued by outgoing governor Jeb Bush, and covers all state buildings. Effective immediately and until sunset on January 25, 2007, all flags on state property shall be flown at half-staff in honor of Ford, the thirty-eighth President.

The decision follows a proclamation by Bush's brother, President Bush, extending the same order to all federal buildings, properties and ships.

The proclamations don't cover private homes and businesses, bit both the White House and the Governor's office urged private citizens to follow suit in honor of the former President.
