Officer Somohano Is Laid To Rest
sr
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
The murdered police officer's family issued a statement on Tuesday in connection with Miami-Dade officer Jose Somohano's burial.
They expressed their profound appreciation to the law enforcement community and to the community as a whole.
The family wrote "your kindness has given us the support and strength to face the most difficult hour that one can possibly imagine".
At the cemetery in southwest Miami-Dade, family, officers and friends gathered. Hundreds of people paid tribute to officer Somohano.
People who could not attend the proceedings at the cemetery could be seen lined up along the route of the motorcade. On the Florida Turnpike, cars and trucks pulled over, some hoisting the American flag.
Somohano was given a three-volley salute and a helicopter flyover in missing man formation.
