Vigil Holds Hope Stepha Henry Is Alive
DG
MIRAMAR (CBS4) ―
A small group of family, friends, and supporters of missing grad student Stepha Henry gathered at a Miramar church Saturday, to express faith she is still alive and hope that people won't forget they are still searching for her.
About 60 people came to the church to light candles and sing hymns as the sun set. Despite a $6 thousand reward, a police investigation and fliers handed out in the streets Silvia Henry is no closer today to understanding what happened to her daughter then she was 7 weeks ago, when Stepha disappeared.
"I love you, Stepha, and I need to see you again, alive," Henry said, as if her daughter could hear her message.
Stepha Henry was visiting South Florida with a friend, spending time with relatives and taking advantage of the activities surrounding Hip-Hop weekend. She and an acquaintance visited Peppers club in Ft. Lauderdale, and while she was seen inside the club, she dropped out of sight afterward.
The grad student hasn't contacted her family, and police don't know where she is. Her story has been featured on the news a number of times, and Friday, her family increased a reward by $5 thousand, but police admit tips have been sparse.
"Obviously this girl couldn't have just vanished into thin air," said Miami-Dade police detective Roy Rutland. "We continue to follow all the leads as we have, unfortunately we have not received as many tips as we'd like, so we hope the increase in the reward will help."
"Somebody had to see something," said Stepha's friend Deanene Dombrowski. "Somebody had to have seen her in the club."
"I would like to appeal to anyone out there who knows anything, has any idea, or saw the simplest thing out there that night or any other time and who can help me find my daughter," Silvia Henry said.
