Teacher Charged In Student Sex Assault Out On Bond
dg
POMPANO BEACH (CBS4) ―
A Pompano Beach teacher was released on bond Tuesday afternoon, a day after he was arrested and charged with allegedly forcing himself sexually on a female student.
Police arrested 43-year-old Conraad Hoever on Monday and charged him with two counts of sexual battery after a 15-year old female student at Blanch Ely High claimed Hoever called her into a classroom and sexually assaulted her last Friday. The student said Hoever assaulted her twice, but the second time she was able to push him away and get assistance from another teacher.
The school district says they that Hoever was in the process of resigning from the school, and had given his two weeks notice just that morning.
Broward Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Leijedal said, "a few minutes later, he was involved in the assault on this 15-year-old girl."
He told police he did not assault the teen, but was still charged with two counts of secual assault, charges which are amplified by his status as a teacher.
Hoever has been reassigned to a non student contact position while they conduct an internal investigation.
