Everglades Hosts Major Jamband Fest

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― Four days and nights of live music at the 6th annual Langerado Music Festival began on Thursday at the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation. About 85 acts are scheduled to play, including the Beastie Boys and R.E.M.

All 4-day tickets to Langerado include on-site camping for the duration of the event. Campgrounds opened Thursday morning, and will close at 12pm on Monday, March 10th. There will be separate camping sections for those who prefer family-style, quiet camping.

More than 20,000 people are expected to attend.  Festival organizers say they are making the event as environmentally friendly as possible. Generators and shuttle vehicles will run on bio-diesel fuel. Food vendors are banned from using plastic foam containers. Concertgoers are being asked to clean up after themselves.

John Long is the festival's eco-expert. "I think is a great step for Langerado and the producers for this event have made efforts every year to continue to grow the event, to be cleaner, greener, and more interactive with people that are here."
