SoBe Hotel Seeks Tanning Butler

MIAMI BEACH (AP) ― South Beach is famous for its bronzed beauties, and one luxury hotel wants to help its guests achieve that perfect tan.

The Ritz-Carlton on South Beach is searching for a tanning butler.

The $30-and-hour job requires helping guests apply sun block to hard-to-reach spots, explaining sun protection options and sometimes spritzing overheated guests with bottled water. The previous tanning butlers were part-time models.

Actress Vivica A. Fox was among the judges who assembled Sunday to interview candidates at the hotel. Just five applicants showed up. They included two waiters, a valet parker and two part-time male models.

A Ritz-Carlton spokeswoman says both the male models are still in contention, but only one will become the hotel's tanning butler.
