It cost a whopping $1.5 billion and will be the floating home for 6300
passengers per voyage, and it's now headed for Port Everglades. It's
called the Oasis of the Seas, and it's been turned over to it's new
owners, Miami-based Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.
The Oasis of the Seas has set sail for South Florida from the Finnish shipyard where it was built.
The 1,200foot long ship has a price tag of almost $1.5 billion and was commissioned by Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines for cruises based from the Port Everglades. It's first official voyage will be in December.
The ship is massive, on a scale not before seen in cruise liners.
The ship has 16 passenger decks with 2,700 cabins and can accommodate 6,300 passengers and 2,100 crew. By comparison, the Titanic carried 22oo passengers.
It has an open-air arena the size of a football field and features a 750-seat theater modeled on an ancient Greek amphitheater, a skating rink and a youth area.
Oasis of the Seas left the port of Turku, Finland Friday. It is due to stop in the English port of Southampton before sailing to Florida.
