Divers had to fight the buoyancy of pumpkins while they tried carving them underwater in the water off Key Largo.
Florida Keys News Bureau
Everything has to be a little different in the Florida Keys, and that includes pumpkin carving for Halloween.
Divers off of Key Largo worked 30 feet under water, carving jack-o-lanterns where the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary lies.
Beverley Moore of North Wales, Pennsylvania, took top honors for her orange-skinned octopus. She won a free dive trip as part of the 12th annual Amoray Dive Resort Underwater Pumpkin Carving contest.
One of the challenges for divers was the natural buoyancy that pumpkins posses.
The local wildlife benefited eating up the bits of food that floated off.
