Criminal Will Need The Right Guard In Jail

DADE CITY, Fla. (CBS4) ― More often than not, a criminal is looking to make a clean getaway after committing the crime. For a Dade City man looking to settle a drug debt, he may have taken the old saying a little too seriously and obviously, didn't want to let the police see him sweat.

Police say 37-year-old Robert McCray owed $40 for his latest drug purchase and was trying to find something that he could use to barter off his debt. That's when McCray hatched his plan.

According to police, McCray went into a Dade City CVS late Thursday afternoon and proceeded to put $84 worth of anti-perspirant into his jacket and try to leave the store. CVS employees stopped McCray and told him to pay for the items, but McCray tried to flee. Police say employees then blocked McCray from leaving until police arrived.

McCray has been charged with retail theft, resisting a merchant, possession of crack cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He's currently being held on $5,450 bail.
