Father Arrested For Letting 8-Year-Old Drive
YOUNGSTOWN, Fla. (CBS) ―
Normally, a father doesn't get in trouble for showing his kid what he does for a living. But, when a Panhandle tow truck driver allowed his 8-year-old son to steer a car that he was towing, local authorities stepped in.
According to the Bay County Sheriff's office, 49-year-old Clifford Myers was spotted by a deputy with the station wagon he was towing swerving back and forth. The deputy pulled over both vehicles and saw the 8-year-old behind the wheel of the station wagon.
Myers was arrested and charged with child neglect and allowing an unauthorized minor to operate a motor vehicle. He told the arresting deputy that he thought the boy would be capable of driving the vehicle.
