Guard Fired After Challenging Disney Over Gun

ORLANDO (CBS4) ― It seems Disney World is serious about keeping employees from packing heat in Mickey's parking lots, no matter what Florida state law says about their right to do so. Monday, Disney fired a security guard who challenged the law.

Security guard Edwin Sotomayor lost his job Monday after he would not left Disney officials search his car. He'd told reporters he had planned to challenge his employer's objection to the law by leaving a gun locked in his car.

Disney World believes it is exempt from the law, which has a loophole for employers who have permits to handle explosives. Disney has a permit for its fireworks shows.

Disney spokeswoman Zoraya Suarez has said the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy for employees who bring guns onto the property.
