7th Recorded Shark Bite In New Smyrna Beach This Year
A second surfer has been bitten by a shark off New Smyrna Beach in as many days.
Sunday, a shark bit a 24-year old man's right calf after jumped off his surf board in chest deep water. He was taken to the hospital where his injury was described at non life or limb threatening.
A day earlier Mark Pattison, 21, said he was on his board in chest deep water Saturday afternoon when a shark chomped down on his right foot. Pattison told the Volusia County Beach Patrol the shark let go after he jumped off his board and hit it.
Pattison drove himself to the hospital where he underwent minor surgery.
This weekend's attacks were the 7th and 8th recorded shark bites this year in New Smyrna Beach.
